About
The origins
Mirror Familiar grew out of informal gatherings in Los Angeles and Sacramento between 2021 and 2025. Small rooms, the right people, no infrastructure. Those gatherings are part of the foundation — not documented, not archived, but real to everyone who was there.
What remained afterward was a clear knowledge: that neurodivergent creatives, given a room without an agenda, without performance pressure, without anyone trying to extract something from them — will find each other. And something happens in that room that doesn't happen elsewhere.
Now we're building the infrastructure to let that space travel. Santa Cruz de la Sierra is the first deliberate mission — the first city with a real presence, a way to find it, and a way to stay connected.
The name
The name comes from the idea of recognition — of seeing yourself reflected in another person, another mind, another way of moving through the world. For many neurodivergent people, that experience is rare. Mirror Familiar is built around making it less rare.
A familiar, in the old sense, is a guide that stays close. Not a teacher, not a mentor — a presence. That's what these gatherings try to be: not something that happens to you, but something that stays with you.
A brief history
The first informal gatherings. No name, no structure. A small group of neurodivergent creatives finding each other and realizing what the room was making possible.
The gatherings continued and deepened. A stronger sense of community. Still no website, no discord, no formal structure — but something undeniably real.
The first deliberate mission. The concept crosses the equator. Mirror Familiar begins building the infrastructure that lets it travel.
